Biography
Davinson Sanchez is a Colombian professional footballer known for his physicality and pace. He plays as a centre-back and has been acknowledged for his aggressive and proactive approach on the field.
He started his career at the youth level with America de Cali and Atletico Nacional. He made his professional debut for Atletico Nacional in 2013 and helped them win four titles; two Copa Colombia trophies, 2016 Superlia Colombiana, and 2016 Copa Libertadores.
He moved to Ajax on 2016 where had 32 appearances and six goals before signing off Tottenham Hotspur in 2017 for a transfer fee of £42 million.
He signed for the Turkish Superlig club Galatasary on September 4, 2023, for a reported fee of £9.5 million. He scored his first goal for the club in an away match against Antalyaspor on October 7, 2023.
Davinson who has been a regular for Galatasary in the 2025-26 season, has won several titles with the club such as; Super Lig (2023-24, 2024-25), Turkish Cup (2024-25), and Turkish Super Cup (2023).
He represented Colombia at the under-17 and under-20 levels before being called up to the senior team by the Colombian manager José Pékerman, in February 2016. He was in the Colombian squad for the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia where he played all three group matches and their round of 16 against England. He also made appearances in both the 2019 and 2021 Copa America. He eventually scored his first goal for the Colombian national team in a 2-0 friendly win against Paraguay.
