Ricardo Pepi is an American professional footballer known as a modern day striker with good movement off the ball and high intensity pressing. His style of play has been compared to Robert Lewandowski for his link up play and finishing ability.
Pepi was born in Texas, United States. He is of Mexican descent through his parents. He started up his career with a club which was coached by his father Daniel Pepi.
Pepi began his professional with Major League Soccer club FC Dallas, where he made a name for himself as a talented young striker.
Pepi impressive performances attracted interest from top clubs in Europe. He joined Bundesliga club FC Augsburg in 2022, and later moved on loan to Eredivisie club FC Groningen.
He signed a five-year contract with PSV Eindhoven for a reported fee of $9.8 million on July 27, 2023. He helped the club qualified for the UEFA Champions League knockout phase after scoring in a 3-2 victory against Sevilla.
Pepi who is eligible to play for the United States and Mexico, decided to represent USA at the youth levels. He became part of the USA squad for the CONCACAF U-17 and FIFA U-17 World Cup. He made his debut for the United States national team in a 4-1 win over Honduras on September 8, 2021.
