Biography
Nigerian singer and songwriter known for his AfroGospel music genre. He came to prominence for his song “No Turnng Back”. He is also a culture architect and festival curator.
Gause Baba who was born in Ile-Ife in Osun State, had wanted to be a Lawyer and later an aeronautical engineer, as his childhood dreams kept on evolving.
He attended King’s College for his secondary school education. He proceeded to Obafemi Awolowo University where he majored in Economics. He also went to Berklee College of Music where he obtained a diploma in Music Business.
He came through with his first album, Gaisebaba in 2011. The album is a fusuion of Afrobeat and gospel sound. It also features lyrics in English, Nigerian pidgin and Yoruba language.
He released his second album, A Decade After, in 2022. The album reflects more on personal issues.
Gaise Baba back story is just from doubt to destiny as he was ready to quit music and give a shot at a regular 9 to 5 job, when it seems like the money wasn’t coming. He got a record deal in his twenties but still remain broke. He moved back to his parents house and watched his dreams fade away.
However, God spoke through his wife, Funto, who encouraged him to keep on trying and never give up. He eventually came to the limelight with the release of his hit song “No Turning Back”. Although, his mother passed away two weeks before the song went viral. He remained consistent and focused with his music dreams. His story is definitely a proof that delay is never denial.
Aside from music, he also had his hands some projects which include; LightOut High School initiative in 2017, which is aimed at promoting education and positive values. He is also the creator of the Aramanda Festival, an arts and music event, which comprises of faith based music, and cultural performances.
He was recognized as one of the influential figures in the Nigerian Christian ministry, as he was named on the Church100 list by YNaija in 2018 and 2020.
Gaise Baba was also recognized for his contributions to music and youth development with a honour as Cultural Ambassador by the Government of Ekiti State in 2013.
He received nomination for Best Video at the Africa Entertainment Awards, Malaysia in 2012. He was also nominated for Best Gospel Video and Best Indigenous Concept at the Nigerian Music Video Awards.
