Dayotchanculle Upamecano is a French professional footballer well known for his physical strength, and defensive intelligence. He is a central defender recognized for his ball-playing ability.
Upamecano was born in Évreux, France. He is of Guinea-Bissau descent as his parents are from Jeta in Guinea-Bissau. He also grew up in La Madalene, a neighbourhood with many African immigrants.
He began his career at the local French club, Évreux alongaide the likes of Ousmane Dembele and Samuel Grandsir, before joining Valenciennes FC’s academy in 2013.
