Biography
Jennifer Echegini is a Nigerian professional footballer and a box-to-box midfielder known for high defensive work rate, excellent vision, and powerful shots.
Echeginni was born in Nijmegen, Netherlands to Nigerian parents, Godshill and Marian Echeginni. She has five siblings; two brothers, Obi and Nnaemeka and three sisters namely, Kelechi, Chiamaka and Ngozi.
She began her career at the youth level with SCE Nijmegen and also passed through the youth academy of Charlton Athletic, Millwall Lionesses, and Arsenal.
She played at the College with Mississippi State Bulldogs at Mississipi State University in 2019, and with Florida State Seminoles at Florida State University from 2022 to 2023.
She played professional football after joining Juventus in January 2024 where she had 10 goals in 14 appearances before leaving the club in July 2024.
She signed a three-year contract with the French club, Paris Saint-Germain on July 10, 2024.
Echeginni decided to represent Nigerian despite being born in Netherlands. She was part of the Nigerian squad for the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup where she helped the team reached the round of 16. She was also part of the team for the 2024 Summer Olympics.
She played at the 2024 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations, where she scored the winning goal in the final against Morocco.
