Biography
Raphael Onyedika is a Nigerian professional footballer known for his incredible work rate and good ball progression. He is defensive midfielder with relentless pressing, and excellent movement off the ball and high ball recovery rate.
Onyedika was born on Onitsha, Anambra State. He was raised by his parents alongside his five brothers in Onitsha.
He won two titles win Club Brugge which include; Belgian Pro League in 2023-24 season and Belgian Cup in 2024-25 season.
He began his football career at the home based club Ebedei in Sagamu, Ogun State, Nigeria and later transfered to the youth academy of the Danish club Midtjylland in 2019.
He signed a five-year contract with Midtjylland until June 2025, and was loaned out to the club affiliate, Fredericia for 2020-21 season, in order to gain more experience. He had an impressive loan spell with three goals in 28 appearances.
However, he returned to Midtjylland in the summer of 2021 and was promoted to the first team. He eventually made his debut for the first team in a match against Odense Boldklub, on July 16, 2021.
Onyedika joined the Belgium club, Club Brugge on a five-year contract, on August 28, 2022. He played a crucial role in their 2-1 victory against Atalanta in the 2025-26 UEFA Chanpions League.
He was called up to the Nigerian senior team by the coach José Peseiro, in September 2022. He was among the Nigerian squad for the 2023 Africa Nations Cup in Ivory Coast. He also played at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco where he scored a brace in a 3-1 win against Uganda in the group stage.
