Biography
Roony Bardghji is a Swedish professional footballer with good foot work and balance. He is a left footed winger with a style of play similar to Barcelona star Lamine Yamal. He is very good on counters and has been acknowledged for his dribbling and ability to cut inside like his idol, Lionel Messi, which earned him the nickname “Swedish Messi”.
Bardghji was born in Kuwait to parents who are from the Syrian city of Aleppo. His family moved to Kallinge, Sweden, when he was six years old.
He began his career at the youth level with Kallinge Sk in 2012 and went through the youth academies of Rodeby AIF, Malmo FF, and Copenhangen, from 2015 to 2021.
He made his senior debut for Copenhagen in a match against AGF in the Danish Superliga, on November 21, 2021. He scored his first goal for the club, seven days later, which was a 3-1 victory against AaB.
He won the Danish Superliga with Copenhagen (2021-22, 2022-23, 2024-25) and the Danish Cup (2022-23, 2024-25).
He joined the Spanish club Barcelona on a four-year contract, on July 14, 2025, for a reported fee of €2 million. He made his debut for the club in a 6-0 win against Valencia, and scored his first goal on December 6, 2025, in a 5-3 away win against Real Betis.
He represented Sweden at the under-17 and under-21 levels before being called up to the senior team on October 1, 2025. He made his debut on October 5, 2025, in a 2-0 loss against Siwtzerland in the 2026 World Cup qualifiers.
