Biography
Antoine Semenyo is a Ghanaian professional footballer and a winger with direct style of play. He has explosive pace and threat on counter attacks. He is very good at driving at defenders and making sharp runs while creating chances with good link up play.
Semenyo was born in England to a Ghanaian father and French mother. His father, Larry is a former footballer who played as a midfielder for Okwawu United in the Ghana Premier League. His younger brother Jai Semenyo is also a professional footballer who played for National League side Eastleigh.
He began his career at the youth level with Bristol City in 2017, after an unsuccessful trials with the likes of Arsemal and Tottenham.
He was promoted to the first team at Bristol City and went on loan to Bath City, Newport County, and Sunderland.
He had his first team breakthrough with Bristol City at the 2020-21 season, where he scored his first goal for the club in an EFL Cup tie against Exeter City on September 5, 2020.
He joined Bournemouth on a four-and-a-half-year contract with a reported fee of £10 million, on January 27, 2023. He made his debut for the club in a 1-0 loss to Brighton & Hove Albion, on February 4. He scored his first goal for Bournemouth in a 4-0 home victory against Leeds, on April 30, 2023.
Semenyo signed a five-four-and-a-half-year contract with the English club Manchester City for a reported fee of £64 million, on January 9, 2026.
At the international stage, he made his debut for the Ghanaian national team in a 3-0 victory against Madagascar at the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations qualification.
He was part of the Ghana squad for the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar. He scored his first international goal in a 2-0 friendly win against Switzerland on November 17, 2022.
