Florian Wirtz was born in Pulheim, Germany into a family of 10 children. He has four brothers and five sisters with one of his sister named Juliane Wirtz being a professional footballer. Their father Hans-Joachim is also the chairman of Grün-Weib Brauweiler, the club Wirtz played for during his childhood.
Wirtz started out with Fc. Koln before he joined the youth setup of Bayer Leverkusen in 2020. He was called up to the club’s senior team in the same year, and played at the age of 17.
