Biography
Hannibal Mejbri is a Tunisian professional footballer and attack minded midfielder with exceptional dribbling skills and creativity.
Hannibal was born in Ivry-sur-Seine, France to Tunisian parents. His father Lotfi Mejbri is a former footballer and his mother was a physiotherapist. He was raised alongside his three siblings, two brothers and a sister. His elder brother Abderrahmen Mejbri is a coach in Vietnam.
He began his career at the youth level with Paris FC in 2009. He went through the youth academy of Boulogne-Billancourt, Monaco and Manchester United from 2017 to 2021.
He was promoted to the Manchester United senior team and made his debut in a 2-1 victory against Wolverhampton Wanderers, on May 23, 2021.
He went on loan to Birmingham City for the 2022-23 season, and scored his first goal for the club in a match against West Bromich Albion on February 10, 2023.
He returned to Manchester United in September 2023, and scored his first Premier League goal for Manchester United in a 3-1 home loss to Brighton.
He went on loan to Sevilla on January 15, 2024, until the end of the season. He eventually joined Burnely on a four-year contract on August 29, 2024. He scored his first goal for Burnley in a 2-1 victory over Norwich City at the 2024-25 EFL Championship.
He played for France at the under-16 and under-17 levels before deciding to represent Tunisia at the senior level.
He was called up to the Tunisian national team in May 2021, and made his debut in a 1-0 friendly win against DR Congo, on June 5. He took part in the 2021 FIFA Arab Cup in Qatar. He was named man of the Match in their match against United Arab Emirates which ended 1-0 in favour of Tunisia.
He took part at the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations in Cameroon and 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar. He was also part of the Tunisian squad for the 2024 Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco.
