Sarr was born in Martigues, France, into a footballing family. His father, Pape Sarr, played professionally and represented Senegal internationally.
He began his football development at RC Lens before joining the renowned Olympique Lyonnais academy. His performances earned him promotion to Lyonโs senior team, where he made his professional debut in Ligue 1 as a teenager.
