Biography
Federico Valverde is a Uruguayan professional footballer known for his work rate and explosive shot power. He is a a box to box midfielder whose versatility covers both defensive and transitional play. He often bring attacking threat with his long range shots.
Valverde was born in Montevideo, Uruguay, to parents, Julio Valverde, Doris Dipette. He grew up with his elder brother Diego Valverde alongside his two step brothers, Pablo and Matias Castro.
He began his career at the youth level with Estudiantes de la Union and Peñarol before joining Real Madrid where he played for the reserve team Castilla.
He went on a one-year loan to the La Liga side Deportivo La Coruna on June 22, 2017, and made his debut in a 2-4 home loss against Real Sociedad, where he came on as a substitute for Fede Cartabia, on September 10.
He returned to Real Madrid in 2018 and was assigned to the first team. He made his debut for Real Madrid in the UEFA Champions League group game against Viktoria Plzeñ, on October 23, 2018.
Valverde had his breakthrough in the 2019-21 season under the Real Madrid coach Zinedine Zidane. He scored his first goal for Real Madrid in a 4-0 away win against Eibar, on. November 9, 2019.
He represented Uruguay from the under-15 to under-20 levels, before being called up to the senior team in August 2017. He made his debut and scored his first goal in a match against Paraguay on September 5. He was also part of the squad for the 2022 FIFA World Cup.
Valverde got married to his wife, Mina Bonino, an Argentine sports journalist and television presenter, in 2022.
